Zumex

Zumex, a Spanish company, has been making citrus juicing equipment since the 1980s and started selling its orange presses in the USA in the 1990s. Zumex is known around the world for its commercial citrus juicing equipment and has a strong brand identity as an early pioneer in juicing. At the time of its launch in the USA, Zumex was competing with FMC Juicers and an older line called The Automatic Juicer, which date back to the 1940s/50s respectively.

While Zumex was known for making robust juicers, a company called TMP GmbH, an Austrian company, developed the CITROCASA juicer in 2005 and launched the new juicer brand, Citrocasa, in 2006. TMP GmbH had been a distribution partner for Zumex in Central Europe since the early 1990s, but grew dissatisfied with the quality, reliability, hygiene, and juice quality they were experiencing from Zumex. After facing many issues in the market with Zumex equipment, TMP, per Mr. Josef Pichler, TMP’s co-founder, made the big decision to build the highest quality citrus juicers available in the world.

The 8000 Series was designed to juice at 40 fruit per minute, which was faster than the Zumex Speed at the time, based on information available to Citrus America.

Cleaner Juice. Lower Costs. Proven Results.

Based on testing from 2011 and videos from the time, the dynamic SCS Soft Cut System reduced the peel oil and bitter peel substance contamination in the juice by between 20-60%, depending on the fruit being juiced and substances being measured. In addition, benchmarking at the time indicted a 60-70% reduction in spare parts consumption when benchmarking Citrocasa 8000 vs. Zumex Speed machines across a few customers in the German-speaking markets.

The Fantastic Series:
Big Performance, Small Footprint

In 2010, Citrocasa launched the Fantastic Series, which took all the Citrocasa learnings from the launching the 6/7/8000 Series and created a much smaller footprint juicer. The Fantastic M/AS juicer was launched in 2010 to compete with the Zumex Essential.

  • Slim 11" footprint

    fits almost anywhere

  • 30 fruit per minute

The Fantastic F/SB: Innovation That Redefined vvv Juicing

In 2011, Citrocasa launched the Fantastic F/SB, which was based on the Fantastic M/AS, but added a high quality automatic fruit feeding system. The F/SB’s automatic hopper is a highly innovative design to ensure a smooth flow of fruit feeding using the industry-unique Two-Level Feeding (TLF) System. The F/SB was designed to compete directly with the Zumex Versatile, but far exceede the Zumex Versatile in terms of hygiene, reliability, and overall durability.

After years of research and development, TMP created the Citrocasa Fantastic to be

  • Highly attractive design to really stand out in the segment

  • Much narrower than any other commercial juicer
at that juicing speed (30 fpm)

  • Have a more robust SCS Knife Design

  • Implemented a patented Double Cover system for faster, more effective cleaning, much higher reliability, dramatic increase in durability and machine lifetime

  • Implemented the Cross Holder system for increased speed, reduced parts, and safer operation

The Fantastic Series: Proven Performance & Long-Term Value

In 2014, Citrocasa began phasing out both the 6000 and 7000 Series, as the Fantastic Series, both the M- manual feeding and F- auto feeding units, proved its outstanding performance versus all other juicers in this size class. While more expensive than other juicers of its size, the Fantastic Series proved to be a far better VALUE, especially when looking at the Total Cost of Ownership, which is heavily impacted by machine breakage, spare parts, equipment downtime, and service call frequency.

Although the Fantastic Series cost more upfront,it delivered far greater
long-term value thanks to:

  • Fewer breakdowns

    and lower spare parts costs

  • Minimal downtime

    machines built to run reliably

  • Reduced service calls

    and lower maintenance expenses

The result? A juicer that pays for itself through reliability, durability, and consistently higher performance.

The 8000 Advance:

The Citrocasa Revolution:
Small Size, Big Reliability

In 2018, Citrus America started to sell the updated Citrocasa Revolution in North America. The Revolution, at only 9” across and juicing at 15 fruit per minute, was, in fact, a revolution in the industry. The Revolution was targeted at the very small, lower capacity, juicer segment, such as the Zumex Soul. However, Citrocasa was very familiar with the quality issues rumored on the market about both the Zumex Minex and Zumex Soul.

While wanting to produce a smaller, less expensive juicer, Citrocasa was not willing to sacrifice on quality & reliability. Therefore, Citrocasa went to great lengths to ensure a high quality and highly robust machine, even targeted at the lower volume juicing customer base.

Innovation That Never Stops

More recently, Citrocasa has continued to launch new products in Europe that are proving to be highly innovative. Citrus America is working closely with Citrocasa on getting the appropriate certifications for the US market and working to adapt the equipment for the North American market. That said, Citrus America has also continued to develop new, additional peripherals, such as new bottle shelves, new fruit basket covers, and has also modified a number of 8000SB-ATS juicers to be able to juice at 60 fruit per minute, making us the highest capacity juicer in this size category.

  • New bottle shelves
for grab-and-go
juice sales

  • Redesigned fruit basket covers for improved hygiene and usability

  • Upgraded 8000SB-ATS models juicing at 60 fruit per minute — the highest capacity juicer in its class

Our Story: How Citrus America Began

Citrus America got its start officially in 2011, after Brian & Ron Framson did extensive research in 2010. They found that the US market was woefully underserved in the fresh juice segment and many juicing customers were dis-satisfied. Brian Framson, an American living in Vienna, Austria, found it much easier to get freshly squeezed orange juice in Vienna than when he visited his parents in South Florida. After a few months of research, both Ron and Brian found a number of different commercial citrus juicers, such as Zumex, Zummo, Zumoval, and FMC that were not working for various reasons. Many times, they did not have parts, were broken and needed repair, or the staff simply did not like operating and cleaning the juicers. After doing more research, Brian and Ron determined that the TMP/Citrocasa juicer was truly a far superior piece of technology and they could dramatically change the fresh citrus juice segment across the USA and North America.

The Industry’s Pain Points — Before Citrocasa

After extensive research, they found out why. Most commercial juicers available in the U.S. — from brands like Zumex, Zummo, Zumoval, and FMC — were unreliable, hard to clean, and frustrating for staff to use. Machines often broke down, spare parts were hard to find, and employees avoided using them.

That’s when they discovered Citrocasa...

During that start-up period for Citrus America, Brian and Ron dove into many details related to equipment benchmarking. As mentioned above, a few of the numbers that stood out were:

Early Benchmarks That Stood Out:

A circular progress graphic showing 30-60% reduction in peel oil and other bitter substances vs. a fixed knife with an orange gradient arc highlighting the percentage range.
Bar graph showing Citrocasa juicers have 60-70% lower spare parts consumption compared to other juicers, with a shorter orange bar for Citrocasa and a taller white bar for other juicers.
